Reflection
The first challenge of this project was “talking colour,” which I liked more to “talking pattern” as I was able to use colour to view life from a different angle. I was always on the lookout for things to investigate when I was doing my research. I am happy with my work’s results when I look back on it given that I used a variety of media to portray my concepts. Instead of focusing on the same topics (if I had to complete the work again) I would offer myself a wider variety of inspiration so I could connect some quite disparate concepts. My sculpture, which I discuss in greater detail in my report, was my favourite project component, in contrast to drawing it was more of a physical experience. When I painted, I liked to use Pantone to break down my imagery into colour, which provided me a different way to present my ideas. I thought this was incredibly useful, and I’ll definitely use this app again in the future. I did find it difficult to sketch on the spot, especially in crowded places. I often started a crude sketch and then came back to it in a more peaceful setting. I could then more clearly consider my colour selections and artistic techniques. Since working in this fashion was a new experience for me, I am generally really delighted with my work. As with most things, there’s always room for improvement, so in conclusion, I’ll use both my own and my peers’ criticism for future tasks.
