Rachel (talking pattern)

When I began to do the second task “Talking patterns”, I thought of an exhibition I saw in the kew garden during the summer holiday. The name is “When flowers dream”, which created a fantastic scene, using some macarons colours. I browsed the photos I took at that time. At first glance, I felt that a lot of things were piled up and looked similar, but when I zoom in these photos, I felt completely different. I observed a lot of details, such as small flowers made of plastic, small corals, etc. Repeatedly copy a separate thing into multiple patterns by rotating amplification.
During the painting, I used different materials to interpret it. For example, I used colour powder, because I observed that there were many plush balls in the exhibition, and I created a plush texture by fainting the colour powder with my hands. Flashing watercolours are also used in some pictures to interpret the dreamy fairy tales.
Overall , in this task, I think what touches me most is to form a new picture by zooming in and out , which is very interesting.

I can see by looking at Rachel’s work that she clearly understood the assignment and that she used a variety of mixed media to develop her concept. I adored the way you used abstracted materials for your talking colour task, including your coffee dyed paper for the collage. Additionally, you maintained a theme of animals and environment throughout the project, making all of your artworks somewhat related, including your use of colour. I particularly enjoy drawing number three in your talking colour series because you used a variety of mark-making techniques and colours in there. I particularly loved the medium you chose because oil pastels and watercolour can be really powerful, and kept your theme flowing throughout.Your paintings are all incredibly detailed, and it is clear that a lot of time and work went into this project. To progress in further tasks, perhaps replace the white backgrounds with something more colourful or unique to make your work really stand out. To maximize the potential of your work, try using a wider variety of mediums.A relatively simple method to incorporate 3D work is through the use of sculptural materials like clay and plaster.Drawing number 10 on your talking patterns task, in my perspective, would go really well with working in 3D.
To summarise, I particularly admire Rachel’s work since it is so daring and timely.I adore the materials she chose and the subjects she drew from throughout her work.To advance, enlarge on artistic creation and colour backgrounds.
